We created the original SmartBase® in 2004 to provide better support for mattresses. We listened to consumers who were frustrated with conventional “box-springs” that seemed to provide no real benefit and added a lot of extra cost. Moreover, “box-springs” were considered impossible to move since they are rigid and can’t easily go up stairs or navigate around corners. The SmartBase solved all of these issues and created some extra benefits as well. SmartBase, made from steel, provided more support by creating 12 points of contact to the floor and was tested to hold up to 2,400 pounds (queen/king sizes). Moreover, it is foldable and portable, making it easy to move and no tools are required for set up. By eliminating the “box-spring” in this new support system, new storage space was crated under the bed.
We didn’t stop there. We created new patented models that look like traditional “box-spring” foundations with expensive mattress ticking covers and special hinges that enable the unit to be attached to head and foot board furniture. These new foundations are handsome to look at, provide better support, and still provide enormous under-bed storage space.
